Scents Appeal

It's not a question that comes up a lot in the world of Beverly Hills plastic surgery, but have you ever stopped to think about which of your senses you value the most, personally?

Among our five senses, the red headed stepchild almost has to be our sense of smell. If we lose our ability to see or hear, we consider it an enormous loss. Most people probably can't even comprehend the enormity of losing their sense of touch. Taste of course, is a huge personal favorite because we all love to eat and drink delicious things.

But then we have taste's close relative, smell, and we suddenly find ourselves a bit blase on the subject -- even if a huge percentage of what we perceive as taste is actually primarily smell. While we hear patients' concerns about all sorts of matters, you'd be surprised how little board certified plastic surgeons hear about patients having any concern regarding their sense of smell.

Even so, smell is a big part of the beauty of the world. Just try walking outside on a residential area on a summer night here in the Los Angeles area and you'll suddenly get a whiff of fresh jasmine. It's so beautiful as to be almost intoxicating. Or go to your favorite restaurant -- double points if it's place that goes heavy on the garlic.

In other words, it's great to treasure the work done by your eyes, ears, skin, and tongue -- but maybe give your nose a little credit too, okay?

Oh, and on a related noted, if you're interested in rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills and throughout Southern California, please give us a call at 310-300-1500.

Impossible to Achieve Beauty Standard: The "Human Barbie"

At We Know Beauty, we get many requests for what a patient might hope for the results of their lip augmentation or rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills. One request that might seem odd, though, is choosing to want to look exactly like a Barbie doll. However, that's exactly what a Ukrainian woman, dubbed "the human Barbie," resembles. Although the saying goes that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we do believe there's a fine line between hoping to be your best self and body dysmorphic disorder — the pathological obsession with perfecting one's appearance.

When patients seek Beverly Hills plastic surgery with We Know Beauty, we aim to familiarize ourselves with the goals of the patient. If a breast augmentation would make her feel happier, then we would encourage it for women who are good candidates for the procedure. However, patients with mental illnesses generally would be better suited seeing a doctor who can help them work through their deeply ingrained desire to change their appearance, as it often is indicative of a deep-seated insecurity about usually imagined flaws.

That doesn't mean that "return patients" seeking plastic surgery are all mentally ill, however! We will help patients evaluate their expectations, and we make sure they are well aware what plastic surgery can or cannot do. We encourage all patients who are considering making a change for some bodily issue that distresses them to seek out reputable, board-certified plastic surgeons to make the best decision for their situation. Sane Women of Today

This Sunday night marks the premiere of the final season of AMC's acclaimed cable TV sensation, "Mad Men" -- a show that people in the field of Beverly Hills plastic surgery very definitely discuss as much as anyone. Between that and a recent article that popped up in the UK's Daily Mail covering how cosmetics have changed in the intervening fifty years between 1964 and 2014, we've been thinking. There really is one obvious difference between beauty regimens of the 1960s and today: time.

This makes enormous sense because of the massive social changes affecting women over the years. Today's woman might have time to visit one of the world's best plastic surgeons at We Know Beauty to improve her appearance on a permanent basis, but she doesn't have time to spend hours everyday working with a beehive hairdo. Since most women today work outside the home -- the "career girl" was still something of a curiosity back in '64 -- it obviously wouldn't do to wear curlers all day long or have cold cream on your face for long periods during the day.

In many respects, beauty today is, in fact, a great deal saner in that it assumes that women lead busy lives -- often far busier than the men in their lives. They shouldn't have to spend a million hours in order to look like a million dollars.

If you are a busy woman of today who would like to take just a little for herself to   improve her appearance in a revision rhinoplasty, a facelift or with a bit liposuction, we're here to help. We Know Beauty provides the full gamut of cosmetic healthcare and plastic surgery. Call 310-300-1500 and see how you can your most beautiful while staying completely sane.

We Know Beauty Respects Privacy and Discretion

Two celebrities revealed their past plastic surgery transformations: Alexa Ray Joel (who admitted to a rhinoplasty) and Kaley Cuoco (breast augmentation). Here at We Know Beauty, medical network of the best plastic surgeons in Southern California, applauds any woman who reveals how great she feels following an aesthetic procedure.

It's especially brave considering how often people (especially women) are shamed for having plastic surgery. Whether a breast augmentation or rhinoplasty, Beverly Hills' finest at We Know Beauty think this is incredibly unfair and that a little nip and tuck should not be stigmatized in our society. After all, we've seen time and time again that just a little goes a long way in terms of providing self-confidence, restoring lost beauty, and much more.

However, until the day that plastic surgery and non-surgical aesthetic procedures are able to be openly discussed without backlash, we will continue to uphold the highest level of discretion. Here at We Know Beauty, a Beverly Hills plastic surgery concierge is assigned to every patient. This surgical concierge will assist all of our clients with scheduling, transportation, and recovery, all with the utmost secrecy. If you want to reveal that you've gotten a life-changing procedure (like the many happy patients in our galleries), then that's completely up to you. Just be sure to give We Know Beauty a shout out!
