Our Top 5 Essence Magazine Celebs That Had Plastic Surgery

Essence Magazine recently revealed 13 celebs that have had plastic surgery.
Here are our top 5 favorites!

Star Jones
In 2006 the former talk show revealed undergoing gastric bypass surgery, a tummy tuck — for excess skin — and a breast lift. Of her weight-loss, she wrote in Glamour, “I’m not saying that in order to be happy, women need to be a certain size, but I am saying that we should all strive to be healthy.

NeNe Leakes
NeNe came clean about her plastic surgery — rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills and liposuction — even showing herself under the knife on her show,
“Real Housewives of Atlanta.” She told
PEOPLE
“I’m very comfortable and confident in myself.
I just wanted a tune up

Toni Braxton
Toni once joked that she had the body of a woman in her 40’s and parts of her that were those of a 20-year-old, thanks to two breast augmentations and a nose job (from the best plastic surgeons). Now she says she won’t do any

more surgeries. “I don’t want to be a turkey,
stuffed and plucked and baked,” she joked

Kelly Rowland
The “Motivation” singer says she got breast implants because she was tired of not fitting into her tops. “I simply went from an A-cup to a B-cup,” she told PEOPLE.
“I didn’t want to have double Ds
and be a little bitty size 2—that would look nuts!

Patti LaBelle
Ms. Patti was never one to keep her nose job a secret.
“I was afraid people would be able to look at me and say, ‘Oh yeah, she had a nose job!’" she said

Peek-a-Boo Beauty

When you work in the world of Beverly Hills plastic surgery, you sometimes find yourself thinking about the nature of beauty and what makes people sexy or alluring. A recent New York Times article about an exhibit dedicated to the history of lingerie at the Fashion Institute Museum got us thinking about what we can only call the peek-a-boo aspect of beauty.

It's an interesting moment in a young man's life when he suddenly realizes that viewing a woman stark naked might often be less exciting than seeing her partially -- or even fully -- clothed. It's a kind of a mental dance between what we see and what's left to the imagination. Women tend to focus slightly less on particular body parts than men, so they're more keenly aware that seeing their favorite film star in a bathing suit, a partially open robe, or even almost completely covered up in a tuxedo might be the ultimate in sexiness.

If all that's true, then what's the point of a Brazilian butt lift or a gummy bear breast implant? It's all about framing. Whether you're wearing a bikini, a teddy, or a beautiful but very modest nightgown, it's obviously just as important to have the "goods" as it is to frame them properly...because, well, you need to have something to frame! Or, let's put it this way, it's great to have a beautifully done facelift in Beverly Hills, but you also want to make sure your hair frames your rejuvenated face appropriately. We're people and a lot more than set of isolated body parts. Everything works together.

It's all basically a mental dance between what we see and what we can't quite see. If you're needing help with the what-we-see part, then We Know Beauty is here to help. Just give us a call at 310-300-1500.

In Beverly Hills, plastic surgery has long been embraced by movie stars, and increasingly, by everyone who wants to enjoy all the joy and opportunities that come from aesthetic beauty. That's why so many people took note when Kate Hudson spoke up on the subject.

Kate Hudson won an Oscar for 'Almost Famous', and since then she has certainly become famous in her own right. In fact, she's been well-known for well-over a decade for her vibrant beauty. However, what some don't know is that she is also a bright, bold and independent women. It's been speculated that Kate got a nose job during her 20s, so it is wonderful to see her open up regarding her progressive and inspiring views on plastic surgery.

"Will everybody stop being so damned judgmental?" said Hudson in a recent interview with In Style magazine. "If someone wants to go get butt implants, then go get butt implants. The real question is, 'How do they treat the person next to them? Are they awesome or are they a--holes?'" Hudson cheekily added.

Hudson recently lost 70 lbs following her two pregnancies, allowing her to experience gorgeous aesthetic beauty and the joys of motherhood - something that the top plastic surgeons at We Know Beauty always support.
