Beauty is for Everyone

There was recently a stir at New York's Fashion Week  when actress Jamie Brewer walked down it's famed runway. The reason for this is that Brewer, who is featured on FX's "American Horror Story," has Down's Syndrome.

People may tend to think of the world of Beverly Hills plastic surgery as a exclusive place where traditional standards of beauty rule the day. The fact of the matter is that We Know Beauty's outstanding doctors understand that procedures are not just meant for supermodels and those who resemble them. People come in all shapes, sizes, and types, and nearly all of us would like to look our very best.

It doesn't matter whether we have a condition like Down's, or we're simply not most people's idea of a classic beauty. A rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills may be just as helpful and empowering for a perfectly proportioned woman in her twenties or a well-upholstered gentleman in his sixties. Even procedures that involve a gummy bear breast implant need not be limited to woman who look like swimsuit models. The point is not to try and fit everyone into the same box, it's to help make any one of us the best version of ourselves that we can be.

The Top 3 Most Requested Celebrity Looks

Here at We Know Beauty, our board certified plastic surgeons are committed to helping you achieve the specific look that you want for your body. We believe you deserve to look how you want, and we have the experience and the expertise to help you get there. Your look is yours, and your alone, although we have noticed a few common requests over the years. Here are some of the most popularly requested celebrity features:

  1. Angelina Jolie: When most women talk about having better lips, they’re talking about Angelina Jolie’s. We can certainly see why.
  2.  Kim Kardashian: few celebrities can spur as much of an emotional reaction in a crowd at the mention of their name than Kim Kardashian. But whether you love her or loathe her, most of us can agree that her gorgeous eyes, well-endowed backside, and ample bosoms are the envy of many. Kim Kardashian’s mere existence is definitely a cause for a surge in gummy bear breast implants
  3. Jennifer Lawrence’s Nose: There’s a lot to love about the perfectly formed nose on this Hunger Games star.

No matter what look you choose, whether it’s modeled after someone else’s or improving upon your own, our team at We Know Beauty is standing by to offer world class Beverly Hills plastic surgery.

A Life Well Lived

When you're working in Beverly Hills plastic surgery, you hear a lot of stories. But, every now and then, something really gets to you. So it is with the story of  Shelley-Marie Sumner, a 23 year-old English beauty contest winner.

As told in The New York Daily News, the attractive young blonde was formerly hounded throughout her schooldays by cruel children, all because of a serious skin condition. Her near-disabling bouts with eczema left her with unpleasant rashes and, children being children, young Shelley-Marie was subjected to constant taunts. After struggling with depression and thoughts of self-harm, however, the condition eventually receded and the young woman found a boyfriend who gave her the courage to try her hand at the beauty contest game. The result is an inspiring story, of course.

Still, it's tempting to frame the story as one of "revenge" against the Ms. Sumner's bullies, but we caution against that. Especially during this time of year, it's important to remember that, while living well might be the best revenge, it's probably best to concentrate on living well and forgetting the revenge. Whether or not you were made fun of in high school because of your appearance, the decision to obtain a procedure such as rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills with us at We Know Beauty should be about your own happiness. Similarly, getting, say, gummy bear breast implants should be about how you feel about yourself, not "getting back" at some old boyfriend or social rival.

Yes, it's the season of forgiveness, and here's the trick. When you let go of angry feeling from the past, the people you were mad at may never even hear about it, but you'll feel better. That really is living well!

Beauty that Lasts

Although those of us involved in the world of cosmetic medicine have to put up with a fair amount of grief from the more cynical members of the press and public, we are not a faddish business. Yes, while beauty trends may come and go on a pretty regular basis, those of us involved with Beverly Hills plastic surgery generally tend to focus on the tried and true.

That's very important, because when someone invests their time and hard-earned money in a procedure, whether it's breast or buttock augmentation or the kind of outstanding rhinoplasty Beverly Hills residents desire, patients want a look that will last. After, a pretty nose or an attractively curvy body today is pretty much the same thing tomorrow. Sure, there are subtle shifts in emphasis -- for the moment, a larger, curvier Brazilian style derriere seem to have taken precedence over other shapes, for example. Nevertheless, most beauty goals remain the same today as they were 10, 20, 50 or 100 years ago.

Even as technology advances and new alternatives, such as the gummy bear breast implant emerge, the ultimate results patients seek out remain the same. Of course, at We Know Beauty, we're committed to providing our clientele with the ultimate in classic beauty. Some things really don't change.

The Post Thanksgiving Beauty Blues

You've been through the overindulgence of Thanksgiving, the madness of Black Friday, and the sedentary insanity of Cyber Monday. It's just possible that, right now, you might not be looking your very absolute best. That's okay. After a bit of mild overindulgence and a lot of stress, even actual supermodels don't often look like supermodels.

If, on the other hand, you've just spent a week off from work with nothing to do but sleep and work out, and you're still not happy with your appearance, then it may be time to take action. It might even be time for a little bit of the kind of superb Beverly Hills plastic surgery we practice at We Know Beauty. Now, you might not feel like the holiday season, with all its hustlle and bustle, is the very best time to look into a cosmetic procedure but that begs the question...just when is it a good time?

If you're unhappy with the shape of your nose, for example, and want to explore rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills with We Know Beauty, there's really no time like the present. After all, lots of people tend to put off looking into these matters until January 2nd; why not beat the rush and start asking us those detailed questions about  whether a traditional or gummy bear breast implant is best for you? Newest Trends in Cosmetic Surgery

We Know Beauty is all about keeping up to date on the latest beauty trends, and making sure that we have the best plastic surgeons in the business who can do all the latest and greatest procedures. It seems that more and more, men and women who elect plastic surgery don't want to look different, but instead want a more natural youthful version of themselves. That's why many of the procedures that our patients know and love are getting updated to better suit the desires of today.
  1. Lighter Botox Treatments- Botox is still one of the best ways to keep yourself looking youthful, firm, and energetic, but as with anything, there is such thing as too much. Many people are now electing lighter Botox regiments to get the youthful look while still looking like themselves.
  2. More Natural Breast Augmentation - While almost all breast augmentation procedures end up looking good, some can certainly look more natural than others. The best surgeons can now used differently shaped implants to make breasts look more natural. We also have gummy bear breast implants that hold their shape better than any implants on the market today. Natural breasts aren't perfect circles, so why should the implants be?
  3. Tummy Tucks - While they've always been popular, the number of people getting tummy tucks is higher than ever. Loose skin is often entirely unavoidable, caused by weight loss or rapid expansion of the stomach during pregnancy. Women are now discovering that tummy tucks are the simplest way to get back to the natural look they know and love.
At We Know Beauty, our board certified plastic surgeons are experts at all these procedures and more! Call us today at 310-300-1500 to see how you can get back to the natural, youthful look that you love!

When is a Bargain not a Bargain?

It's only natural to shop for the best price on coffee or a microwave oven, but there are certain areas where it makes sense to shop for quality and reliability, and worry a lot less about cost. Of course, many people who seek out the finest Beverly Hills plastic surgery are only concerned with obtaining the highest possible level of quality.

At the same time, even among many of us with plenty of money, it's a sort of natural instinct to look for the best possible price on anything. The fact of the mater is, whether you're purchasing a car or a facelift in Beverly Hills, quality really should be your first consideration. Safety is important!

The fact of the matter is that you'll be living with the results of your plastic surgery for many years to come and you want to be happy with them. That's not all, complications due to a physician's less-than-steller skills or results that require revision procedures later on can obviously cost a great deal more in expenses and lost time than if you had simply gone to a leading plastic surgeon in the first place.

Whether you're looking at facial rejuvenation, a Brazilian style buttock augmentation, or the very latest procedures such as a gummy bear breast implant, We Know Beauty offers only the finest plastic surgeons who are known for providing the best quality work -- and that really is a bargain!

Branching Out

A news story this week about L’Oréal branching out into the ethnic market with its acquisition of Carol's Daughter, a line of hair products aimed at women of color, got us thinking about the growing universality of beauty.

While all ethnic groups have long had their own beauty products, there was a time when mainstream purveyors would never have thought to seriously pursue ethnic markets. As a leader in Beverly Hills plastic surgery, We Know Beauty deals with a people from a broad array of backgrounds as we are based in one of the most diverse communities on the planet. If you're getting rhinoplasty from any good plastic surgeon in our town, there's a good chance your're actually receiving ethnic rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills. In other words, not just any nose job, but one that respects and reflects your heritage while also improving your appearance.

It's just one of many services we provide to our clients, who come from all over the Greater Los Angeles area and around the world to take advantage of our outstanding services. Whether you're interested in an ethnically sensitive eyelift or a gummy bear breast implant designed especially for your, we're here to help.

A Smize by Any Other Name

Can you think of a new word for a facelift in Beverly Hills? A "flift"...nah. A "visage redux"...absolutely not. Still, sometimes the words we have to describe certain elements of beauty simply don't exist, and something has to be found to step into the verbal breach.

We were thinking about that as we read writer Adele Chapin's thoughts regarding the new product line being modeled by supermodel-turned-business-megathreat Tyra Banks. Writing for the the Racked shopping blog, Ms. Chapin had this to say:
...of course, her eye products fall under a category called "Smize." Take Tyra's trademark "art of smiling with your eyes" to the next level ...In addition to smizing, Banks invented a new word to describe the project: Beautytainment...
We have to give Ms. Banks some credit, we actually don't have a word for smiling with your eyes, so "smizing" does serve a purpose. On the other hand, so much of the entertainment we already focuses on very attractive people that you can say it's al mostly "beautytainment."

Still, we need to keep creating new words. Whether you're in fashion or Beverly Hills plastic surgery, it's important to communicate properly so that people understand what you're talking about -- and having the right words handy is crucial. When people started discussing a new kind of silicone for use in augmentation procedures, one clever doctor named it a "gummy bear breast implant" and the name stuck. It's easy to see why because it uses something very familiar -- a popular children's candy -- to describe the texture of something that was heretofore unfamiliar. It works.

Our plastic surgeons at We Know Beauty are not only the very best when it comes to performing procedures that make our patients the best possible versions of themselves, they are skilled communicators. Even if they don't use Tyra Banks' latest new words, they make sure they use the right ones so you'll understand exactly what you can expect from our work.

Celeb Cosmetic Surgery Success Stories!

The Internet loves sensationalism, which is why it shouldn't be surprising that there are so many articles and lists that claim to show "the worst celebrity plastic surgery mistakes" or "beauty blunders of the stars". We've all seen them, and lets' be honest, sometimes we can't help but click on the links! However, as the
Beverly Hills plastic surgery facility that is trusted by clientele with some of the highest standards in the world, we know that these stories are the exception - never the rule.

In fact, plastic surgery is safer and more common today than ever before - and when you undergo treatment like a breast augmentation or rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills from our dedicated team, you can always expect to achieve stunning, natural-looking results. That's why we wanted to share some of our favorite plastic surgery celebrity success stories:

How can you tell your plastic surgery was a success? When the results are this subtle! It's hard to detect that Anna Faris has had any work done at all, but if you look closely, you can tell that she's had some artful cosmetic surgery.

One of our favorite examples. Jen's transformation is simply incredible, yet she still looks like herself.

Yep, even the distinguished journalist herself has undergone confidence boosting, age-defying treatment - and the results speak for themselves!

Though these examples might not grab headlines, it's comforting to know that in most cases, a truly skilled plastic surgeon can work wonders, enhancing your physical beauty and self-esteem. For face lift, liposuction, or even gummy bear breast implant, don't hesitate to contact We Know Beauty!

Moving Towards the Future

The Internet tradition that is #ThrowbackThursday is certainly an enjoyable past-time, but it's important not to get overly caught up in the frivolity. If you're interested, for example, in a facelift in Beverly Hills, then the odds are you're no longer a kid. The past is past and the future is all there is; that facelift is there to help you make the most of that future.

Of course, everything in the world keeps moving forward, and that definitely includes those of us who labor in the vineyards of Beverly Hills plastic surgery. For years, silicone and saline implants were the gold standard in augmentation and now, when it comes to buttocks, many practitioners are leaning very strongly towards fat transfer. At the same time, the gummy bear breast implant is gaining in popularity.

In the face of this constant progress, it might be tempting to try and wait for the best possible time to have the work done that we will know we want. However, the truth of the matter is that the absolute perfect time never really comes at all. The closest thing to a perfect time, in fact, is right now. That's what We Know Beauty is here for. Just give us a call at 310-300-1500.

Peek-a-Boo Beauty

When you work in the world of Beverly Hills plastic surgery, you sometimes find yourself thinking about the nature of beauty and what makes people sexy or alluring. A recent New York Times article about an exhibit dedicated to the history of lingerie at the Fashion Institute Museum got us thinking about what we can only call the peek-a-boo aspect of beauty.

It's an interesting moment in a young man's life when he suddenly realizes that viewing a woman stark naked might often be less exciting than seeing her partially -- or even fully -- clothed. It's a kind of a mental dance between what we see and what's left to the imagination. Women tend to focus slightly less on particular body parts than men, so they're more keenly aware that seeing their favorite film star in a bathing suit, a partially open robe, or even almost completely covered up in a tuxedo might be the ultimate in sexiness.

If all that's true, then what's the point of a Brazilian butt lift or a gummy bear breast implant? It's all about framing. Whether you're wearing a bikini, a teddy, or a beautiful but very modest nightgown, it's obviously just as important to have the "goods" as it is to frame them properly...because, well, you need to have something to frame! Or, let's put it this way, it's great to have a beautifully done facelift in Beverly Hills, but you also want to make sure your hair frames your rejuvenated face appropriately. We're people and a lot more than set of isolated body parts. Everything works together.

It's all basically a mental dance between what we see and what we can't quite see. If you're needing help with the what-we-see part, then We Know Beauty is here to help. Just give us a call at 310-300-1500.

Be a Sleeping Beauty

If, like most of us in the Beverly Hills plastic surgery community, you're a beauty aficionado, you're probably aware of the fact that Angelina Jolie's new film from Disney, "Maleficent" opens today. It's a retelling of sorts of the classic 1959 animated "Sleeping Beauty," film from the point of the view of the villainous but beautiful witch who curses a princess to a potentially eternal sleep. (Spoiler alert: charming princes seem to be something of an antidote.)

The movie is getting mixed-to-negative reviews and it'll be interesting to see how the film does at the box office. The main reason we're mentioning it is that, while we love "Sleeping Beauty," we love beauty sleep even more.

The fact of the matter is that Americans work more than people in most other countries and our home lives are pretty busy and stressful as well. In the squeeze for time, sleep gets short shrift, and that's a shame.

The very important health benefits of getting enough sleep aside, who among us hasn't noticed that truly good night's sleep can be the closest thing there is to a facelift in Beverly Hills? Indeed, while many prospective breast augmentation clients might lose sleep over whether they'd like a gummy bear breast implant or some other product, they might be doing just as much good for their appearance by sleeping a bit more.

There are, of course, a number of reasons why sleep improves our appearance, such as preventing dry skin, dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. Still, we think what sleep does in terms of improving our mood is even more important. When we feel better, we look better.

Of course, there's only so much proper rest and a good mood can really do for your appearance. If you'd like to take your attempts at improving your appearance to another level, the top cosmetic practitioners of We Know Beauty are ready to help. For a free initial consultation, give us a call at 310-300-1500. We'll do what we can to make you both a sleeping and a waking beauty.

Breast Reductions Can Take a Burden off of Your... Shoulders

The topic of plastic surgery usually makes people think of a breast augmentation (unfortunately, they might also think of unnatural looking implants). We Know Beauty is hoping to dispel both of those myths through openly discussing other popular procedures that might differ from this expectation. The Beverly Hills plastic surgery office often performs two operations that seem contrary to the augmentation, which are breast lifts and breast reductions.

A breast lift operation is performed when a woman wants perkier breasts and feel that hers are currently sagging or deflated-looking. It results in a look that women have described as much more youthful. In some cases, the breast lift might be combined with a small saline, silicone, or gummy bear breast implant in order to help fill in lost volume. This has the effect of making the breasts look fuller when there isn't sufficient tissue. It's grown into a popular procedure; according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of breast lift procedures increased 70% from 2000 to 2013, which they say outpaces breast implant surgeries two-to-one.

A breast reduction, on the other hand, is when a patient has full breasts that are painful and/or too large for her frame. During the procedure, extra breast fat, tissue, and skin are removed, creating a much more proportional (and often perkier) bust line. It's sometimes covered by insurance, as overly large breasts can cause back pain, skin issues, and other problems.

At the end of the day, all breast procedures are meant to make a woman feel confident and secure in her own body. The team at We Know Beauty believes that proportion and aesthetics should be an ultimate goal in every procedure, whether it's a breast operation or a facelift in Beverly Hills. Give us a call to learn more about our breast lift and reduction procedures.

Is Lindsay Lohan's Half Sister Missing the Point?

This week, Ashley Horn, the 18-year-old half-sister of Lindsay Lohan, spoke out on the shocking reasons for her recent plastic surgery. Stating that her "goal was to look like Lindsay in her good days," Ms. Horn spent about $25,000 on a slew of procedures, including rhinoplasty, fat injections to the face, and "refinement underneath [her] cheeks and jawline."

Here at We Know Beauty, medical network featuring some of the best plastic surgeons in Southern California, truly believe in the power in feeling great about your looks and beauty. However, we do believe that an expert surgeon should never perform plastic surgery to make a patient look like somebody else. A cosmetic surgery should ultimately respect a person's inherent beauty, maintaining a patient's overall symmetry and proportion.

This is why many people come to We Know Beauty for revision rhinoplasty; they were given a one-size-fits-all nose job, perhaps inspired by a certain celebrity, and it ended up not fitting well with their facial structure. In these cases, the expert surgical team at We Know Beauty will get to work on a secondary (sometimes tertiary) rhinoplasty procedure that will get their patients the results they originally wanted.

Of course, it's perfectly fine to want aspects of a celebrity's body, like a nose you like or the toned arms of a celebrity like Jennifer Aniston. We Know Beauty finds the perfect middle ground between the part of your physique you don't like and a carbon copy of a celebrity's body part that might night fit yours. After all, gummy bear breast implants and fat transfer to buttocks procedures can help you get closer to the Kim Kardashian or J-Lo body you want, but ultimately should fit your existing physique.

Give We Know Beauty a call at 310-300-1500 for a complimentary consultation to learn more.

Testimonials from We Know Beauty Doctors Tell Touching Tales

There's an unfortunate stereotype out there about people who elect to have a plastic surgery, that these people have low self-esteem and simply focus all of their hate on one part of their body. Here at We Know Beauty, a network of board certified plastic surgeons specializing in concierge-style service, we know that this isn't the case. Many times, as you can read on our testimonials page, our patients feel that they look great now but they want to look even better.

For example, gummy bear breast implant surgery can have corrective applications (after loss of breast volume due to pregnancy or as a reconstructive technique). However, many women who seek out a breast augmentation simply want to feel confident in their chest in every setting, whether it is the beach or at work. These women could love their breasts now but desire a chest that is a little more proportionate for their body shape.

Of course, wanting a physical improvement through surgery should not be taken lightly; where you go truly matters. The best plastic surgeons working for We Know Beauty are some of the most experienced and compassionate doctors in the field. At a complimentary consultation with a We Know Beauty surgeon, your surgeon will perfectly detail what a procedure can do for you physically as well as make sure that you're prepared mentally for the upcoming changes in your body. Call us now to learn more!

Plastic Surgery in the News: August 2nd Edition

Here at We Know Beauty, network of top-ranked board certified plastic surgeons in Southern California, we supplement our knowledge of plastic surgery by reading the most recent industry news. This week, there are two big stories that have emerged: a study on if plastic surgery makes you prettier and a revelation by Bravo star Patti Stanger.

The first news story comes from New York, where a doctor showed pictures of people before and after a procedure to monitor their attractiveness/youthfulness. The results showed that those who received plastic surgery were ranked about the same before and after on a beauty scale, though they did appear years younger. The science behind the study is debatable (no people saw both a before and after picture and judged them against each other), but we can't help but think the study misses the point.

For many of our patients at We Know Beauty, the tangible results of the procedure aren't as important as the transformation in self-confidence. It's like saying that a gummy bear breast implant only serves to make the breasts larger, when it's really about making a woman feel confident, beautiful, and no longer self-conscious. We truly believe that this restored self-worth makes women look and feel much more beautiful.

This was evidenced by Patti Stanger's recent post-plastic surgery revelation. The Millionaire Matchmaker herself revealed that she had a breast reduction and lift, an eye lift, and a series of Botox injections. While we think she looks rejuvenated and vibrant, we really appreciate what she said about her internal transformation, "I felt skinny and young again!" That's what we like to hear at We Know Beauty!
