Embrace Your Choices

It seems that Hollywood is awash with rumors about famous celebrities and whether they have had plastic surgery or not. Jennifer Lopez is making headlines this week after taking to Twitter to defend herself against accusations from a London-based plastic surgeon, who posted suggestive plastic surgery before and after pictures of her online. Reporters took note when Renee Zellweger recently appeared at the screening of a film in Burbank, postulating that perhaps she, too, had gone under the knife. And of course, Hollywood starlet Heidi Montag (made famous for her role on The Hills), has drawn increased attention lately for having breast reduction surgery after her previous procedure had given rise to health problems.

There's nothing inherently right or wrong with the choice to have (or not have) plastic surgery. When done for the right reasons, plastic surgery can correct perceived cosmetic imperfections that have triggered real insecurities for the patient. Whatever the case, we want to know: why all the defensiveness on the part of these stars? The reactions on the part of those who are quick to deny they've had surgery implies there's something wrong with plastic surgery in the first place. There isn't. We think it's better to make an informed, healthy decision, and then embrace it fully.

The choice to have plastic surgery is life-changing. It should be made in consultation with board certified professional plastic surgeons. Cosmetic surgery isn't for everyone, and there are health risks associated with any procedure. If you are interested in learning more about the benefits and drawbacks associated with undergoing a cosmetic surgical procedure, call the top plastic surgeons at We Know Beauty today.
