Peek-a-Boo Beauty

When you work in the world of Beverly Hills plastic surgery, you sometimes find yourself thinking about the nature of beauty and what makes people sexy or alluring. A recent New York Times article about an exhibit dedicated to the history of lingerie at the Fashion Institute Museum got us thinking about what we can only call the peek-a-boo aspect of beauty.

It's an interesting moment in a young man's life when he suddenly realizes that viewing a woman stark naked might often be less exciting than seeing her partially -- or even fully -- clothed. It's a kind of a mental dance between what we see and what's left to the imagination. Women tend to focus slightly less on particular body parts than men, so they're more keenly aware that seeing their favorite film star in a bathing suit, a partially open robe, or even almost completely covered up in a tuxedo might be the ultimate in sexiness.

If all that's true, then what's the point of a Brazilian butt lift or a gummy bear breast implant? It's all about framing. Whether you're wearing a bikini, a teddy, or a beautiful but very modest nightgown, it's obviously just as important to have the "goods" as it is to frame them properly...because, well, you need to have something to frame! Or, let's put it this way, it's great to have a beautifully done facelift in Beverly Hills, but you also want to make sure your hair frames your rejuvenated face appropriately. We're people and a lot more than set of isolated body parts. Everything works together.

It's all basically a mental dance between what we see and what we can't quite see. If you're needing help with the what-we-see part, then We Know Beauty is here to help. Just give us a call at 310-300-1500.
